How to Effectively Treat Hepatitis C in Low-Resource Settings
Dee Ann Bragg MD with Jennifer Sebes, DNP, APRN
This workshop sets out to delineate how to cost-effectively and successfully treat Hepatitis C Virus (HCV) based on experience in two different clinical settings (one primarily uninsured, one with state-based insurance). Hepatitis C Virus is a common yet preventable cause of liver failure, cirrhosis, and hepatocellular carcinoma. It currently kills more Americans than any other infectious disease. We will discuss the relationship and trust-building benefits of treating HCV in the context of primary care and seek to offer strategies for implementing HCV treatment programs to better serve indigent populations.
