You Don't Belong Here: How to Live on Mission with God
Nathan Cook, MDiv
You have a creative idea for reforming health care that will help people in poverty experience God's mercy and grace. You are really excited about your idea, but you know it will take a lot of hard work and sacrifice on the part of your family to carry it through. You ask your pastor for advice and he says you should pray about it and ask God if He is calling you to a new ministry. He reasons, if God is not calling you, you are likely to fail. You won't be able to carry out your idea in your own strength. You pray for several weeks, but you never hear from God. Instead of helping people in poverty, you continue a "normal life," working and providing for your family. You still think your idea was a good one, you just weren't called to do it.
