CCHF Conference 2025 will be a truly unique experience.  It is the domestic medical missions conference designed for people like you - those who see medicine as a calling, and are committed to missional, faith-driven healthcare here in the United States.

You will be inspired with a vision of what it means to live out the gospel through healthcare and equipped with super-practical tools to be faithful and effective in extending Christ’s love through excellent, appropriate, holistic healthcare. Each workshop, discussion group and plenary session features best practices presented by experts who share from a Christian faith perspective.

Remembering Dr. Janelle Goetcheus: Over the years, I was privileged to be friends with Janelle. Some of the deepest encounters I have ever had with God came during visits with Janelle at Christ House. She was brilliant, humble, wise, fearless - the most compassionate and Christ-like person I have ever met. Her concept and commitment to community, and her experience living in community… I don’t have words for how much I respect and admire her and the servants who are part of that. In one of the last exchanges we had, she shared about her cancer progressing and the discomfort involved. She said, “I pray that these physical symptoms and decisions do not keep us from resting peacefully in the Lord. We are Blessed to be a part of a wonderful Christian community.” In a phone conversation earlier this year, she told me, “So many of these men have shared their death with us, and when my time comes, I will get to share mine with them.” She died at home, in Christ House. Remembering Dr. Janelle Goetcheus: “We came to see that a way to love God is to love our neighbor. The challenge is to determine how we will define ‘neighbor’. In the story of the Good Samaritan, Jesus uses an example that defined a neighbor as an outsider, a person who was suffering, who had open physical wounds. CCHF was a community of Christian health workers who felt called to help bind up the wounds of our neighbor – of Jesus.” ~Dr. Janelle Goetcheus

Dr. Janelle Goetcheus died this weekend. For those who have been part of CCHF for a long time, Janelle was a foundational person. She spoke at our first conference in 1982, and has been an inspiration and mentor for many of us. Janelle and her husband, Allen, founded one of the earliest CCHF clinics, Columbia Road Health Services, and later, Christ House ( @christhousedc ), both in Washington, DC. Christ House was the first respite care facility for unhoused men in the U.S. She and Allen moved into Christ House, where they raised their family and have lived in community with the people they serve for 40 years. Whether you knew Janelle or not, an hour well spent would be to Google her name and read about her legacy. I once asked Janelle how she had been able to continue to work in such difficult patient populations for the better part of 5 decades without burning out. She replied, “What surprised us all is how we met Jesus in our patients. One truth that is confirmed in us again and again is that in our caring for others – not just providing medical treatment, but really caring – we are often led to meet and know Jesus in deeper ways than we could ever imagine. Jesus comes to me in my patients.” We all met Jesus in Janelle. In Waco, Texas, Baylor University faculty want their pre-health students “ to consider ethical and spiritual issues they will encounter in healthcare, to explore the deepest meanings of health and healing, and to embrace the sacred nature of their vocation.” Baylor has sought out partnership opportunities with CCHF to give these students robust experiences. In September, a one-day CCHF conference was held on Baylor’s campus. Almost 100 people registered, including faculty, residents and medical students outside of Waco. Over a dozen speakers shared about the topic, Faith in Medicine. This encouraging event kicked off the Faith in Medicine week.
